Eleven years and still going strong! Having celebrated its 10 year anniversary last summer, the Audubon Society of RI Environmental Education is not done exploring why nature matters. This summer will be filled with activities for both young and old alike. Crafts, creature features, discovery tables and sandy adventures are all just some of the activities offered throughout the summer that are free with admission and require no registration.
Looking for something more? Register for one of our family hikes to the wetland or shore, learn how to band a bird, hear a story under the stars or “cook” up a meal for the birds.
Looking for something for just the adults? Take part in our “This Way to the Beach” lecture series, learn how to make chocolates or investigate the amazing world of bats.
The fun does to stop after the summer is over! As September arrives, so do the Owls, Hawks, Kestrels and Falcons! They’re coming to the Environmental Education Center for our famous Raptor Weekend event on September 10th and 11th. Wildlife rehabilitators and experts from across the Northeast will be showcasing a wide variety of these extraordinary birds of prey at the largest raptor celebration in New England. Falcons, owls, vultures, and hawks will be featured in live flight demonstrations and educational programs for bird enthusiasts of all ages. The day also includes games, lectures, and crafts for kids, food and more!
In October and November, take part in one of our many upcoming fall
lectures and workshops, decorate a pumpkin, have an apple adventure, or
bring your little ones to Lil’ Peeps and Preschool Story time.
In December, the snow arrives bringing our special school break
activities for kids, member double discount in the gift shop and more!
So, come to the Audubon Society of RI Environmental Education Center and
discover why nature matters while having a sea of fun along the way.
Please refer to events calendar of list of activities, dates and times.
Please note many of the activities require registration. In fact,
sometimes wonderful programs are cancelled because we all tend to wait
until the last minute to register. Please register or call early to
avoid disappointment that the program you wanted was canceled, perhaps
unnecessarily.
