This week's (10/18) Wednesday morning bird walk will be at Moonstone Beach in South Kingstown. We will meet at 9 am. Parking is at the end of Moonstone Beach Road.

A 120- acre refuge harbors ASRI's headquarters. The refuge has fine stands of pines, a pond, and a brook. The headquarters has a gift shop, teacher's resource center, and bird feeding station. Read about our refuge's rich history.

Directions to Powder Mill Ledges

From I-295, take exit 7B onto Route 44 West. At fourth set of lights, turn left onto Route 5 (Sanderson road). Turn left at the second driveway into the parking lot.

Using the Trails

Permitted (and encouraged!):

  • Hiking on the trails
  • Observing & learning about wildlife
  • Photography
  • Bird watching
  • Enjoying the area's natural ambience and solitude


Not permitted are:

  • Motorized vehicles
  • Horses or bicycles
  • Dogs and other pets
  • Hunting, fishing, trapping
  • Picnicking or camping
  • Littering
  • Alcoholic beverages
  • Collecting plants or other natural objects
  • Geo-caching or Letterboxing
