Seapowet Avenue, Tiverton, RI

A 50 acre parcel of woods and salt marsh with
trails and fine views of the Sakonnet
River. The refuge has
blinds for observing and photographing nature. Great Egrets, Snowy Egrets, and
Glossy Ibis are among the birds that frequent the marsh. Jack's Island, a
peninsula that extends into the Sakonnet
River, is home to
breeding Ospreys.
Directions to Ruecker
From Providence:
Take Route 195 east to Route 24 south (in Fall
River, MA). Travel
Route 24 south to the Route 77 south exit. Follow Route 77 for 4.1 miles to Seapowet Avenue on
the right. Turn onto Seapowet
Avenue and continue 0.2 miles to the refuge
parking lot on the right.
From Newport and points west: Travel east on RI-114/West Main Road.
Merge onto RI-24N toward I-195 (Fall River/Providence). Stay on RI-24N for 4 miles, exiting at Exit 4,
after crossing the bridge) toward RI-77 (Tiverton/Little Compton). Stay on
RI-77 south for 3.6 miles,
turning right onto Seapowet Ave. Travel 0.2 miles to parking
area.
