The future of assuring water for all purposes from economic development to stream flow is wrapped in a bill working its way through the Rhode Island General Assembly.  S-732 sub A deserves strong support for its provisions of planning, conservation and good governance, as well as for the efforts of RI Water Works Association and The Coalition for Water Security of which Audubon is a working member. We continue to maneuver for position and work for passage of this water legislation as the General Assembly reconvenes in late October.

WRB’s budget for FY2010 was cut, eliminating vital staff.

HAP subcommittee continues discussion about incentives to reduce water use in the Hunt Annaquatucket Pettaquamscutt aquifer

Audubon urges sufficient staff to plan for water management, including a pilot project in the Hunt River to assess what techniques to reduce summer water use will help to assure adequate summer flows in the Hunt.
