The future of assuring water for all purposes from economic development
to stream flow is wrapped in a bill working its way through the Rhode
Island General Assembly. S-732 sub A deserves strong support for its
provisions of planning, conservation and good governance, as well as
for the efforts of RI Water Works Association and The Coalition for
Water Security of which Audubon is a working member. We continue to maneuver for position and work for passage of this water legislation as the General Assembly reconvenes in late October.
WRB’s budget for FY2010 was cut, eliminating vital staff.
HAP subcommittee continues discussion about incentives to reduce water use in the Hunt Annaquatucket Pettaquamscutt aquifer
Audubon urges sufficient staff to plan for water management, including a
pilot project in the Hunt River to assess what techniques to reduce
summer water use will help to assure adequate summer flows in the Hunt.
