Preschool Story Time
Enjoy story hour with your preschooler each month.
The programs include the reading of a nature story with hands on
activities followed by a nature craft. See our calendar of events for
dates. Adults must accompany children.
Preschool Adventures
Nature comes alive at Preschool Adventures. Children participate in
games, crafts, songs and hands-on activities as they are introduced to
the wonders of nature. This is a six-week program that meets every
Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Adults must accompany children. See our calendar
of events for dates.
Knee-High Naturalists
Bring your budding naturalists and discover the wonders of nature! This new, ever-changing program is geared for ages 4-6 and will provide investigations on different nature topics each month. Young naturalists take part in a variety of activities and nature lessons, which may include a nature hike, animal interviews, songs, games and more!
Each topic will be repeated 3 times per month to meet the needs of busy family schedules. In order to maintain an age-appropriate program, we ask that siblings outside of the age requirements not accompany the participants. Adults get to accompany children. Registration is required as space is limited. Please see calendar for topics, dates and times.
Li'l Peeps
This popular program introduces children ages 1 and 2 to the delights
of nature through age-appropriate, hands-on activities. Along with a
nature lesson activities may include nature walks, crafts, songs and
stories. This is also a wonderful opportunity to make new friends
with other children and parents. Register early, as space is limited.
Adults must accompany children and there are no refunds for missed
classes. In order to maintain an age-appropriate program, we ask that
older siblings not accompany the parent/child team.
See our calendar of events for dates.
School Vacation Activities
Each day during December, February, and April school vacation weeks the
Audubon Environmental Education Center hosts activities, hikes, and
crafts for children of all ages. See our calendar of events for details.
Health Guidelines
The Audubon Society of Rhode Island has instituted a set of health guidelines for those attending our programs.
For family programs we ask that all parents do their best to ensure
their child or children are well when attending an Audubon Society of
Rhode Island program. We ask parents to refrain from bringing their
child to an Audubon program if they have had any of the following:
* A fever of 100.4° or higher within the last 24 hours
* Vomiting or diarrhea within the last 24 hours
* Exhibited any symptoms of any childhood communicable disease
* A common cold with discolored mucus
* A sore throat or persistent cough
* An undiagnosed rash or skin infection
* Suspected mononucleosis
* Pinkeye or other contagious eye infection
* Complaint of persistent pain
* Head Lice
* An inoculation or vaccination of a live virus within 48 hours (MMR, Chicken Pox, Small Pox, Poliovirus vaccine)
* If a child does not appear well enough to participate in the program
These guidelines are for the comfort and well being of all our participants and their children.
Should a child arrive at a program exhibiting any of the above symptoms
the program leader has the right to ask the parent and child to leave.
The Audubon Society of Rhode Island reserves the right to adjust these guidelines at any time.
Feel free to contact us if you have any questions.
